We asked Jenn a series of questions to get to know her better.

Here are her responses…

Describe the six months you spent in the Bloombase experience for Advanced Women Leaders.
The AWL experience was truly transformational for me. I have been through many leadership programs throughout my 25 years in the Life Sciences industry, but this one is truly unique.

Describe the benefits of the AWL experience.
— Psychological safety: the facilitators quickly bring a group of women who don’t know each other into a psychologically safe environment where each is willing to share information they wouldn’t tell their best friends.
— Assessment data: the AWL experience starts with an assessment on emotional intelligence which allows the participants to get data on how she is showing up.  It is so helpful to have real data. The facilitators provide the feedback to each participant in a personal way, helping each woman focus on the positives, and not drift to the opportunities.
— Application: we use the 360 data and other sources to build an action plan, which takes the learning to true application. Each full-day session also include new learnings and applications throughout the month to take the learning from an idea into a new skill or behavior.
— Peer partners: while each woman is partnered with a coach, she also has a peer partner. We truly get to know another woman in the AWL experience and work through everyday situations we find ourselves in.

What would you say to someone else considering this experience?
If you are considering the AWL experience, I would highly encourage you to participate.  Not only have I seen a significant difference in my leadership both at work and at home, I have witnessed changes in the other women I have invested in who participated in the experience.  Please know, you will only get out of it what you put into it, so make sure you make the most of the investment.

What is the greatest ROI for this investment you made in yourself?
It has been nearly six years since I was a participant in the AWL experience.  The amount of change that has happened in the past six years in my life is exponential.  It is the new skills and behaviors I learned through this experience that helped me to be a better wife, mother, and leader.

I feel like I am fulfilling my purpose when I am… spending time one on one with another person truly connecting.  When the walls feel like they are all down, and we can just talk about anything and everything.  When we can help each other see a different perspective, with love.

The kind of work I’m passionate about is… people development. I love watching people grow in their leadership skills both as individuals and as leaders of people.  I love seeing the positive impact they make on their teams, which ultimately makes a positive impact on the patients and caregivers we serve.  That translates to our home, too.  I love developing our children to be great humans, first.  While I love to see them grow and develop in academics, athletics and arts, I care more about how they show up and how they treat others.

The legacy that I want to leave is… the personal mission statement I wrote in AWL and have kept it for the past six years is – Look up, Live up, Lift up. So, I guess the legacy I want to leave is that I lived my mission statement.  That I followed God’s plan for my life, to the best of my abilities, and helped others to do the same.
