Master Facilitator

The most life changing experience I have had in my career is the realization that true leadership is liberating. After being promoted into a new role with no technical expertise at all, my initial reaction was one of fear and anxiety. Intimidated by the prospect of having to lead in a totally new space, I quickly realised I was not put in the role for my technical skills, I was there to be a great leader. With no ability to micro-manage the team on their technical deliverables, I settled into understanding what the team needed, got them focused on measurable objectives and outcomes, then worked to create the environment when they could all be at their best and where the team could excel. As a result, I felt liberated, in a place where I could be at my best and focus on creating the most effective environment for the team.

With 35 years of experience as a female in a global, male dominated company, I have had many experiences and learned many lessons (some of them the hard way). My career has spanned many disciplines – Finance, Strategic Management and Program Management through to leading IT and Digital for the Global Defence business at Rolls-Royce and a number of transformations and change programs. I am now excited to bring all of these experiences into a place where I can use them to inspire others.

In 2021, I decided to step away from the corporate world where I had been most of my adult life. As the mother of a High School Senior, I felt the need to take on a new role as a full-time mom. Having the opportunity to be present for my daughter at this pivotal time in her life, to support her through her final year of high school, navigating the college application process, and on to her next journey in the world, has been invaluable to me (I think she appreciates it too!)

Originally from the United Kingdom, I have a Bachelors with Honors in Accounting and Finance from the University of Portsmouth, a Masters in Business Administration from Loughborough University, and 35 years of global experience at Rolls-Royce.
