AWL Alumni Spotlight

Describe the six months you spent in the Bloombase experience for Advanced Women Leaders.
The AWL experience meant carving out time within a demanding schedule to focus on developing a deeper understanding of myself and others, enriching my knowledge around leadership, and building skills to expand my influence in a positive way. It required being vulnerable and receptive to learning, as well as willing to share my own work and life experiences with other leaders in my cohort. The ultimately transformative AWL experience is grounded in research, but energized by the wisdom of the facilitators and participants, based on their diverse experiences and education. The six month experience was the beginning of a longer journey—guided by what I learned and now practice, and supported by a deeply connected group of women leaders.

Describe the benefits of the AWL Experience.
I understand the importance of caring for myself to bring my best to serving others and helping to create a healthy climate for achievement. I am both more self-aware and more empathetic, and feel more connected to the people I work with. I’m prepared with a leadership framework and tools, and have also gained a network of smart, dedicated women leaders who share principled values and strive to lead with integrity. When I make mistakes, I’m better equipped to confront them, make things right, and learn from them, with grace toward myself and others.
 
Describe the benefits of being a part of the post AWL community.
I feel a connection to each leader who has been through the AWL experience. I can reach out to any of them and have meaningful conversations about leadership challenges, failures and successes (or any other subject) and come away with valuable insights and suggestions. I greatly appreciate the opportunities Bloombase facilitates for us to stay connected and the growing community we’re creating together.

Describe your experience working with the Bloombase team.
They are deeply competent and deeply caring. From day one, I’ve felt accepted for who I am and where I am on my path and completely supported through my growth. Even when it’s two steps forward and one step back, I know they’ve got my back. The learning is rigorous, yet energizing, and ultimately rewarding. They walk the talk by demonstrating how to create a climate where it’s safe to be vulnerable and to both ask for and offer help. They are leadership angels. And lots of fun, too!
