Elyssa Campodonico-Barr

“It was the first time a mentor said, 'You are so much more capable beyond the goals you've set. Ask for what you deserve vs. what you think you're worth’.”

We asked Elyssa a series of questions to get to know her better.

Here are her responses…

Describe the six months you spent in the Bloombase experience for Advanced Women Leaders.
My six-month journey through AWL was a transformative one. I’ve had the privilege to be involved in various leadership experiences during my career, but AWL stands apart given the depth of the experience and the rare expertise that Sheri and the Bloombase team are able to provide. AWL digs deep into the discovery of who you are and what you want to achieve. What are your values? What impact do you want to make in the world? How are you taking care of yourself in order to better serve your team and organization? How are you contributing to a positive climate and culture? The experience is not designed to just scratch the surface; it was a time to be vulnerable and focus on my own personal and professional growth in a community with other women.

Describe the benefits of being a part of the post AWL community.
There is real value in being connected with other women who are centered on growth, rather than simply achievement. My cohort still meets every month or so to check-in and support one another in our respective journeys. Is there anything more powerful than being in a network of women change-agents?

What did you get out of the Executive Coaching sessions?
The Executive Coaching sessions are where a lot of my growth happened. With the help of my executive coach, I was pushed to be my authentic self and stand true to my values. One of the biggest takeaways was that I tend to try to be everything for everyone. The coaching sessions helped me redefine my goals and create my boundaries in order to be my best self and to show up for the mission that I serve so passionately every day.

What would you say to someone else considering this experience?
I would say get ready for an experience unlike anything else you have done before. This is an opportunity to work on your whole self, not just one aspect of your being. You will likely be uncomfortable with the level of vulnerability that is expected, but the reward is profound growth.

What is the greatest ROI for this investment you made in yourself?
The greatest ROI is a deeper self-awareness and embarking on a journey of emotional intelligence. These tools have supported my life both personally and professionally. Being able to notice, name and navigate my emotions when I am in a heightened state, allows me to make better decisions that impact my life, holistically. Because of AWL, I have a better relationship with myself, and therefore those around me.
